To address the nutritional needs in Delhi, NCR and mark the World Food Day on 16th of October 2013, the first ever Food-A-Thon is being organised from Sep 01- Oct 16 2013. This collaborative action will help accelerate the scale required for the nutritional gaps for feeding programs to those who need it the most.
Undernutrition jeopardizes children’s survival, health, growth and development, and it slows national progress towards development goals. Undernutrition is often an invisible problem. Nutrition is a core pillar of human development and concrete, large-scale programming not only can reduce the burden of undernutrition and deprivation in countries but also can advance the progress of nations. Detrimental and often undetected until severe, undernutrition undermines the survival, growth and development of children and women, and diminishes the strength and capacity of nations, as stated by UNICEF.
The Food-A-Thon is being held to benefit and serve the undernourished and hungry vulnerable population in Delhi & NCR to advocate and implement national action. With the introduction of the Food Security Ordinance in Delhi, there is a need to complement and augment this Ordinance. The FoodBanking system is focussed towards providing a Nutritional Wholesome Plate. Participants of the Food-A-Thon will be running a FoodDrive in their companies, peer networks, RWA's, Schools, Institutes and online through social media for Virtual FoodDrives.
Last years awards and collections of food helped create numerous new partnerships for the need of sustained nutritional food that is helping feed into 13 feeding programs across 32 locations in Delhi NCR. You can view the collaborations of last year at by Food-a-Thon
This year we are happy to announce the partnership with Cargill, India which will also launch The Gurgaon FoodBank to help leverage the FoodBanking system for those who need it the most based on a baseline need analysis conducted. Please let us know your interest to be a part of the Integrated Development Exchange.
